Translation of 'Main Shayar Badnaam'

I, the infamous poet, I.. bid goodbye..
A failure in the concert; I.. bid goodbye..
I, the infamous poet, I.. bid goodbye..

You'll find some things from my home,
You'll get a couch book of poetry belonging to a crazy poet,
You'll get one more thing,
A broken empty wine glass; I.. bid goodbye..
I, the infamous poet.

I had to walk on the flames,
I had to sleep on the thorns,
And I had to cry my heart out over my destiny,
Don't know how many such kinds,
I left the remaining work; I.. move on..
I, the infamous poet.

The road is stopping me,
Dregs of life is left,
Don't know what desires remain in my broken heart,
Oh..Leave it my heart.
I salute everybody and I.. bid goodbye..

I, the infamous poet, I.. bid goodbye..
A failure in the concert; I.. bid goodbye..

5th 'P' of Management

The 4 P's of management are -
  • People
  • Process

What can be the 5th P?
Obviously,

PROCRASTINATION

A good weekend

I guess last weekend was one of the most memorable ones.
Thanks Chia for wishing me a great Sunday.

I had fun all through the weekend. Loads of ecstasy and
elation coming after long time. The work (which at most
times becomes boring) had become so stale for me. I wanted
some time out of all these stuff which I did.

I went to Hyderabad to meet my cousin, Amit who is pursuing
his MBA for ICFAI Business School. I reached there on Saturday
morning. Initially, I had plans for meeting one of my college
friends, Shudhatm, whom I consider an excellent programmer but
he is an underachiever as a techie. Hence, I went to meet him and
did enjoy his company. We had a good lunch in one of the restaurants
nearby. The food, no doubt, was delicious.

In the next phase of my sojourn in the city, I met Amit
in the evening. We enjoyed some South Indian Cuisines at
Chutneys restaurant. After loitering a bit in the city,
we moved on to the College. I enjoyed the little time
I had, making new friends and meeting new people in the College.

The next day was Friendship Day. Amit and his group of 6 other
friends had plans for some hangouts in the city. Obviously,
I was the pivot point for deciding our itinerary for the day,
as I was the guest. lol. I didn't know about the place, so I
rested my decision on Amit. To my surprise, there were 7
prospective managers in front of me, but none was able to decide
about the place of visit as we had resource (time) constraints. Huh..

Anyways, we were in the bus and we thought we will decide once
we reach the city. In the bus, we could not stop lauging as
all the guys in our group kept pulling legs of each other.
Amit and Pratik(Amit's best friend in the college) kept gibing
each other which infused spontaneous laughter. The talks of Navratan,
one of the toppers, were more so related with studies but
with a sense of humor. Finally, this interesting guy Anish. He was always involved
with his mobile. Intermittently, he would interrupt and talk to us
and pull somebody's legs. After that, revert back to his mobile.

"He is always involved in his miss calls", Amit joked.

Even after reaching the city, we could not decide the place
we should visit to enjoy ourselves. We kept entering and exiting
malls and restaurants. I was getting frustated. The whole
process became tiresome and I was damn hungry. Consequently,
we moved to a place called Eat Street. We had lots of different
kinds of stuff to satisfy our tummy's outrage. lol. Thereafter,
we visited Birla Mandir which is a peaceful temple in the heart
of the city.

I was to leave at 1820 for Bangalore and it was already 1600 by my watch.
We moved to a Westside Mall nearby where we smothered our
precious time by window shopping. Just kidding (smothered!!).
We dawdled around a little bit on the roads, taking snaps,
capturing videos and making fun of each other.

At the end of the day, the whole body ached but the moments
of happiness and joy became memorable.

I came around a very interesting statement.

"QUAERENDO INVENIETIS"

Meaning: By seeking you'll discover.

I talk to the rain

The flow of rain, cursive,
Running down my skin,
And upon her crisp, smooth curves--
Her divine touch makes me shiver;
Walking on .... I talk to the rain.

She plays with my body,
Mind and soul alike.
The pearly raindrops sunder my soul,
Both rational and irrational.
Walking on ... I talk to the rain.

The rhythms of falling drops
Rings deep unto me;
Her words are "binding"
Like deep thoughts plunging in time;
Walking on ... I talk to the rain.

Her character, beyond human satire,
Impartial elegance, contrary to fire;
Her serenity emerges inside and out,
Cleansing the world - her pride without;
Walking on ... I talk to the rain.

Streams of drops, turning into a line,
Relieved of tension, I feel divine;
Purging my vices under her care,
The Liquid Maiden seems placid and fair,
Walking on ... I talk to the rain.

"Dear Rain! Your elysian touch
Has cleansed my physique as much."
"Noble friend, I am but honored,
I am just glad you remembered."
Walking on ... I talk to the rain.

THE UNCONFERENCE

Last Saturday I attended Barcamp at IIM-Bangalore. It was simply great to meet new people (predominantly techies). I guess I was a techie who was totally different and who had different things to show. Apart from the jargon of codes, it was more of a social interaction where people shared their thoughts, ideas and had productive discussions on different technological issues.
Though the Barcamp was scheduled for 2 days, I could attend it on Saturday only. There were a lot of collectives(groups) talking about variegated stuff. In our bloggers collective, basically blogging was the real issue.

How to Blog? What to Blog? Why Blog?

These questions were adequately answered by bloggers who had been blogging since long time. KK gave a nice presentation on Widgets. I think I will get minekey on my blog. lol.

What more...

I did have a look at other collectives and 1-2 sessions which were quite impressive too. Also, I did enjoy some discussions people had about blogging.
All in all, the unconference was a nice place and nice opportunity to learn and meet new people from different walks of life.

One of the best statements ever made

I consider, this is one of the best statements ever made.
In the movie The Matrix, Morpheus says,
"There is a difference between Knowing The Path & Walking The Path"

Cracks in the Ethical Walls

Pic Source : http://www.flickr.com/photos/fredcan/537290510/

"Supremo of culture and civilization",
It sounds great.
Pragmatics depict something different;
Hidden is the dilapidated state.

Emotions and desire have loosened the grip,
Indiscipline of children grows at will.
'Impressed' development is premature,
Old age will have to pay the bill.

Rituals and customs have been sidelined,
Hybridization of cultures is prevalent.
Excess of anything is always dangerous,
Degradation is incessant.

'Profanity' is the order of the day,
'Respect' - the word has vanished.
Flexibility of Indianism is the reason,
Descency has been banished.

Rules, systems and procedures have changed;
Prestige auctioned in the youth malls.
O! August India... smothered by her own people
Enormous cracks have developed in the ethical walls.

Translation of Woh Kagaz ki Kashti

In my last post, I talked about "Woh Kagaz ki kashti..", the song sung by Jagjit Singh.
I found an appropriate translation of the song on one of the blogs.
Do check it out.
The blogger calls herself Shaykhspeara Sha'ira.

The child in us

Pic Source : http://www.flickr.com/photos/hindugods/508166226/in/set-72157600005397920/

Yesterday I saw two boys engaged in a quarrel, the
reason being an inevitable cycle tussle they had.

Instantaneously I was taken back in time and indelible
memories flashed infront of my mind.

Oh!! What days I had in my innocent childhood.

So many friends and so many cousins at home(I belong
to a joint family).

I still remember those days of childish cricket in
courtyards of my home. Those childhood games.

Ah!! How I wish I could go back in time.

The best song which I think makes me remember my childhood
is the song sung by phenomenal Ghazal singer, Jagjit Singh.
The song goes like this,

"Woh Kagaz ki kashti, woh baarish ka paani...."
(That dinghy of paper, those waters of rain...)

Thirteen Strangers

I attended a Blogger's meet on Saturday. We have formed a group called
BLOG'A'LOREANS which consists of Bloggers from Bangalore.
I wrote a small poem for the meeting and also an ambigram for the group.
The details about the meeting can be found here.

THIRTEEN STRANGERS

Thirteen strangers from diverse backgrounds,
Come together to echo common sounds.
Purpose, objectives, ambitions and will,
They have enough minds to drill.

Thoughts, ideas and interactions,
Gradually developing into productive communications.
Blogging has been a common interest,
Here, the gregarious youth is full of zest.

'Freedom of speech' seems the common theme,
With time, the group will expand its realm.
'Web' is building a blogger's fellowship,
A greater reach, a social network, a 'virtual' ownership.

I see only eyes

This pic has been taken from my friend, SloganMurugan's site.
I have written this poem on his long awaited request.

I see only eyes

This ochre black ambience under diminishing sunlight;
Says something, though in tranquility.
The dark phlegmatic crow seems a knight,
Standing still but ready to roar.

The surreal silence evokes feelings,
Fear, suspense, curiosity.
The 'dark' birds are Satan's siblings,
The demon looks inside 'your' door.

Abyssmal darkness seems to grow,
Eating up the fauna around.
Sign of pandemonium is the crow,
Blinded - I see only eyes.

My mom - my goddess

In this cruel world, very few people are honest and hard
working at heart. Very few people sacrifice a good life
for a good cause. Very few people sustain in a joint family
of 60 members. Very few people are deeply caring and loving.
Very few people sacrifice their happiness to give happiness
to others. Very few people learn a lot of things, do a lot of
things and still don't get what they deserve in life. Very few
people have enormous potentials so that they can be compared
to Gods.

An intersection of all these qualities is my mother - a great
cook, a dedicated house wife, a learner even at the age of 50,
a pious person and a great human being.

She is my goddess.
Kudos to you, Uma Devi Bora, my mother!!

The symbol of LOVE

The pic has been taken from this site.

I wrote two lines for this great monument.

"The body is mortal but the soul is divine,
The landmark of LOVE will stand all tests of time."
